Many anglers took home dinner while some had a few hearts broken having to release some 4-5lb. fish under RSA permit rules. | August 27, 2009 - Night Open Boat Striped Bass trip yielded excellent results. The Gino Martel group did it again with a full limit of Striped Bass up to 20lbs. Many fish caught and released with several junior anglers landing their first Stripers. My wife Jenny Boccio took a night away from business and ended up with 7 nice keepers. | August 25, 2009 - Rob Bender Special had great Porgy fishing for 3 hours in the morning with everyone filling buckets of big Scup. The Bass and Bluefish action on the incoming tide was very good with 12 keepers and numerous shorts, and Bluefish kept anglers busy for the rest of the trip. Joe Tsiforas from Queens limited on Striped Bass and Porgies as did Victor Collaco and Frank Murphy from Astoria. The Bass ranged from 28" to 33". Great trip. Capt. Mike, PT3 |

This week we fished everyday and several afternoon bass runs with solid results. Yesterday's 4 pm bass charter with Fred Fico and friends beat the blues / bass right off the bat for several hours on the out going flow. Switched to porgy fishing till the tide returned and put a quick bushel of Jumboes together for the fillet table. All the guys went home with bass fillets a load of blues for the smoker. awesome trip in flat seas.
Jim Ryans day charter resulted in 12 bass a load of blues and a limit of Jumboes on 8/19 fishing was challenging with serious 5 kt drifts , but the A- team prevailed and showed their skill and preserverance.
Several Rodbender Specials this week put away some beautiful Jumboes and several keeper bass drifting deep ledges in the Race. Blues are always there to please anglers desire to twist a rod.
Looks like the next chance to get out will be Sunday the wind will shift to the N.W. 10kt and make for excellent conditions . Looks like Bill will be 550 nautical mile east and will have 0 effect on our area. For now a greatly needed rest and maybe a trip to the beach to see Hawaii surf on L.I. Capt. Mike, PT3
